CS 549 News
- 3/6/08 - The midterm will be in class, from 3:30 to 4:30, on Wednesday,
12th March. There will be 4 questions. Bring a pencil and eraser (or a pen,
if you never make mistakes...). Nothing else is needed, besides knowledge.
This is a closed-book exam and it will cover all the material discussed in
class up to and including the March 10 class.
- 3/6/08 - Please sign up for the second round of talks. The Course
Organization page is now final. If you wait, you may end out with a topic
you don't like.
- 3/6/08 - The project suggestions page has been updated. A proposal for
a project (1-2 pages) is due the week after Spring break. It should explain
what you want to achieve and how you are going to go about it. If you have
something you'd like to do but is not on the list, come talk about it.
- 1/24/08 - Info on the TA is now available in the Syllabus page.
- 12/27/07 - Paper availability: A couple of hard-to-get papers are linked to
the class page. Most journal papers are available on the web at the journals'
sites. You will need to be in a USC machine to access most of these, otherwise
the journals require that you buy them. The book chapters, unfortunately,
are not on the web, and I can't copy them for you because of copyright problems.
I have asked the Seaver Science library to put all the books in the reference
list on reserve on 2 or 3 hours loan. You'll have to copy them yourselves.
Please do not "get smart" and somehow take the books out of the library for
your own convenience and create a major problem for everybody else in the
course. I consider that unacceptable behavior and will treat it as such.
- 12/27/07 - Welcome! The first class is on Monday, January 14, at 3:30 pm
in KAP 160 -- note change of room. The "course organization" page has just
began to be updated for the Spring 2008 version of the course. Anything below the
"Construction Boundary" is from the last time the course was taught.
